The Remarkable Knowles Family UFO Encounter Incident in Mundrabilla, Australia

In 1988 the Knowles family claimed they encountered and were actively chased in their car by a UFO on the Australian Nullarbor Plain.

The Knowles family and their two pet dogs had a UFO encounter on whilst travelling across the Nullarbor Plain in the early hours of the morning. The family described how a UFO shot over their car and lifted it from the road below them.

They described how their voices changed in pitch, the family dog in the car went crazy, and the car started shaking. Australian news outlets declared the bizarre incident a UFO encounter and reported that the car was covered by strange dust.

This video footage of news outlets discussing and interviewing the family contains amazing testimony on a bizarre and rarely talked about UFO encounter.

  2. By all accounts the craft that attacked the Knowles family was about the size of a large station wagon, it hovered, it spewed out hot exhaust fumes and carbon soot from its engines and made a high pitched humming electrical noise and a vroom vroom noise from the engines. The family claim that the car was hoisted off the road at about 100km/hr and swung violently through the air from side to side before being dropped back onto the road and then dragged skidding for 30 metres before coming to a stop. They climbed out off the car and watched the craft as it was trying to gain control of its lift. The craft had its engines on full throttle and was blowing carbon soot, desert dust and a strange silicon chemical which was later found to be potassium chlorate all over them. Lucky for them a truck was approaching the scene and the craft flew off. The chance sighting of the truck gave the family time to fix the tyre that had blown out when the car was dropped. The family tried to hail the truck to stop but it just drove past them. When the tyre was fixed the family drove after the truck. With the family back in the car and on the road again the craft returned and chased the family until they finally caught up and passed the truck. They pulled up at the next roadhouse and a truck driver looked over the car. He reported to the newspaper that the car was covered in soot and there were four dents on the roof and it looked as though they had been picked up by a magnet. So what happened and who did it. It is my view after following this case for nearly thirty years and reviewing all the evidence that the family was attacked by a paramilitary terrorist group using a powerful helicopter equiped with an electromagnet attached to a long cable. The Knowles family were not the target, they just resembled the real target group who were also out there that night.

Very interesting text, have you any idea who this paramilitary force was/is, for them to have such a powerful helicopter they must have a lot of money and resources. Why go to such extreams and use so much money and resources to "get" there target?, who was there target ??
Could you give some more info on this, im interested in your idea

  5. There was a group that I believe had the ability to carry out such an attack, but to be clear ,I am not saying it was them. In 1989 an investigation into John Friedrich and the National Safety Council of Australia began. John Friedrich was a German citizen who entered Australia in 1975 on a two day visa and stayed, he was an illegal immigrant. In 1977 he joined the National Safety Council and in 1986 he was appointed to chief executive. He turned the NSC, a non-profit making charity into a powerful paramilitary force with assets and equipment worth millions of dollars. Its resources included 22 helicopter, 10 fixed wing aircraft and a 42 metre ship with a helipad. Friedrich had borrowed $300 million from the banks to build this organisation but there was no money or income to pay it back. A criminal fraud case was launched and the assets of the NSC were seized. Friedrich took off and after a nation wide search he found and charged with 102 cases of fraud. While on bail Friedrich told friends that a hit man was after him and he was told that his family would be harmed if he didn't kill himself. Friedrich was found shot dead in a paddock six days before his trial. At his inquest the Coroner heard allegations that Friedrich was a CIA agent who used the NSC for gun running and military espionage. This group had many powerful friends and contacts and they trained with the SAS regiment and had landing rights to military bases. It was my understanding that the NSC had a helicopter equiped with a electromagnet for vehicle recovery, like when cars crashed off roads into gullies and it was saver to haul them out using a chopper with the magnet rather than tying cables to them. I believe that they also used the magnet to place steel boxes onto the gas rigs in the Bass Strait. The night of the attack the helicopter had been launched from the helipad on a ship off the coast in the Southern Ocean and was waiting for the target group . The observer on the road wrongly identified the Knowles family as the target group and details of their car and location were passed onto the crew of the chopper. The problem was that there was a semi trailer a few kilometres in front of the family and another one a few kilometres behind them so if this operation was to be successful the crew would have to grab the target and cart them off without being observed. The chopper crew first tried to run the family of the road when they were travelling at 100km/hr, hoping they would crash off the road. If that had worked the crew would quickly landed, murdered the target and attached the electromagnet before carting the car into the Southern Ocean and dumping it. Sean swerved around the light and took off. For the next half hour the helicopter crew pursued the family up and down the road, desperate to take them out because now the whole secret operation was in danger of becoming world news. Sean Knowles outmanoeuvred the chopper at every turn and ruined their covert operation. Such is life. So who would this paramilitary force hate or fear that much that would plan such a desperate attack. The attack on the family happened six day before the Bicentennial of Australia and it is my view that this paramilitary force was planning a terrorists attack. Forensic scientists found potassium chlorate in the Knowles family car and there were also traces of astatine a toxic radioactive substance. Potassium chlorate is an explosive compound used by terrorists to build an improvised explosive devise and there is a relationship with astatine and nuclear fission material. It is possible that the chopper may had been planning to build a toxic barrel bomb. So who were they after. I had been a rifleman with the Royal Western Australian Regiment and had been disrupting this paramilitary force for many years. I messed with every action that they had undertaken and i was aware they were planning something big. I could have taken my concerns to the Western Australian authorities but I believed there may by involved. As I said the NSC had many powerful friends that allowed them to build this paramilitary force in the first place. John Friedrich was given the Order of Australia and had government contracts. No I felt it much better and more fun to lure them out on to a lonely desert highway and kill them.

Wow thanks for that info, hope you dont mind if I ask some questions.
I find it hard to believe that any government would let a paramilitary get so well equipped and grow so big as it would be a danger to the government its self.
A chopper that is equipped with a lifting system and all its equipment is big, and the idea that it could pick up a moving car is something out of Thunderbirds or 007.
So how would something like this be done in real life.
You would have a spotter who IDs the car, the car is then stopped by using spikes on the road, people in car killed, the helicopter comes in lifts the car away and dumps it in the sea. Simple clean fast.
Sorry but im not convinced by this story but that does not mean its not true.
Hope to hear more about thing, hope to hear from you WB

  7. If you ever get a chance to watch the James Bond 007 movie" You only Live Twice" you can see how easy it is to pick up a speeding car off the road using a helicopter equiped with an electro magnet. This movie was made in the 1960's. If you want to see read the full story of the attack and look at some of the evidence that I researched you can find it on my Facebook page, William Buckley, from Perth, Western Australia. It may take a little time to search for it, but that is nothing compared to the effort I have taken to crush these terrorists.

  8. There were four sightings of an unknown aircraft during the month of January 1988 that were similar to the one that attacked the Knowles family. The Daily Newspaper in Perth, Western Australia reported on the 7/1/1988 and 8/1/1988 that a woman who owns the hotel at Eucla had seen what she thought was a plane coming into land at the airport. As the Eucla airport has no landing lights she went to the pub and rallied the patrons to drive out to the airport and turn their lights onto the airstrip. Five people watched as the craft started hovering before moving off. The people in the cars checked with the authorities but there were no aircraft that should have been in the area that night. The next night a man who was out driving said he saw what looked like a bright light, like a large lightbulb. I had been investigating a para military group who were planning on going across to Sydney from Perth and I made plans to follow them. Eucla is a long way from anywhere and I believed that the hovering craft that had been seen was a helicopter which would of had a limited flight range and so it may have been launched from a vessel in the Southern Ocean. On the 20/1/1988 the chopper with its searchlight on swooped low in front of the Knowles family trying to force them off the road. Sean Knowles swerved around the light and the family caught a split second look at the helicopter as they passed. They reported different ideas on what they had seen. It was a huge glowing object, it was a weird-looking thing, it was and old station wagon towing a trailer, it was a car towing a caravan, it was a glowing thing like a egg in a eggcup. A truck driver, Graham Henley who was a short distance in front of the family said he had observed a bright white light in his rear vision mirror and there was an object as well that looked like a huge fried egg upside down following him. Henley had seen the searchlight on the helicopter and had also seen the under carriage of the chopper which had been illuminated by the light, the under carriage was the white of the so-called fried egg and the yellow bulb of the searchlight was the yolk. After the attack on the family the helicopter crew were in a very distressed state, they were in shock ,covered in explosive and toxic radioactive material as they headed back into the ocean to meet up with their landing vessel. About 30 minutes after the attack the crew of a tuna boat Empress Star said they saw a bright light approach the boat. Six crewmen watched as the craft hovered above them before moving off. It is my view that the helicopter crew were lost when they flew out into the ocean and low on fuel they were searching for their landing craft. As the helicopter was never seen again I hope they ran out of fuel and crashed into a watery grave.

You do understand that was a movie using props and had nothing to do with the real world.
I will for sure read up about this, thanks for a good post, hope to hear more from you

  11. Well this is a forum to discuss conspiracy theories so I would be happy to enlighten you. I was out in the desert that night, I have spoken to the Knowles in Perth, I have spoken to one of the semi-trailer truck driver who were travelling behind the family who went back to the scene where the family changed the tyre during the attack, and have also spoken to the insurance assessor who viewed the families car. My theories have been developed by speaking to eye witnesses, collecting every article in newspapers and magazines, reviewing everything I can find on the internet and trying to make sense of the forensic evidence that has been collected. There is a conspiracy by organisations linked to the paramilitary terrorists to cover this story up. A criminal inquiry into this matter would pull the powers to be down and change Australia for the better and that is why there is so much resistance. The family were not attacked by Aliens from outer space and that is very clear. There is no evidence what so ever to support that view. People may want to believe that an advanced civilisation have the ability to cross the vast expanse of space and try to abduct the Knowles family and just go back home and that is there right to do so. My view is that we, the humans, are spending billions of dollars looking and listening to cosmos just hoping to find one spec of life to prove we are not alone, so I don't think they would fail to look into Australia's most famous UFO sighting if there was any evidence it was extra-terrestrial. And yes I do know that movie makers use props to make their shows. In the movie " You Only Live Twice" they used a helicopter with a steel cable connected to an electromagnet which was used to hoist a speeding car of the road. One look at that scene would proof to any reasonable mind that the speeding car was picked up off the road and it was not just a trick of graphics.

    I agree with @darksun.

I'm very open-minded but also realistic and logical thinking, there are some stories where one is left wondering, and others that should be taken with a grain of salt. I do believe in the paranormal and in the existence of aliens but not all cases are that in my opinion -some could have a scientific explanation at a level of science that we have not yet reached-.

I am not talking about this case. This one seems pretty legit to me.

I also believe that governments in the know (Russia, China, USA) are keeping the truth from us regarding aliens visiting earth in the past and in the present. I've heard/ read too many cases including from close friends who would never lie to me- I've had plenty of paranormal experiences growing up and even now, but never once saw a UFO. I hope I will in my lifetime, because I really believe they exist.

I'd like to add a quote from Sherlock Holmes:

"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

    ;)
